SENSOR CABLES AND CONNECTORS
Baumer sensor cables are critical components in industry, automation, and machine manufacturing. They are used for signal transmission between sensors, actuators, and control systems. These cables are designed to withstand demanding environments such as mechanical stress, temperature fluctuations, as well as exposure to oils and chemicals.
Most common sensor cable types and connectors
- M8 and M12 connector cables: Standard connectors in industrial automation (3-, 4-, 5- and 8-pin), used for example with inductive and capacitive sensors.
- Connector and free end: One end of the cable has a pre-assembled connector (male/female) and the other end is stripped for direct connection to a terminal block.
- Shielded cables: Used in environments where protection against electromagnetic interference (EMI/RFI) is required.
- Special cables: For example silicone cables for high temperatures, PUR cables for mechanical stress, or flexible cables for moving applications.
Materials and properties
- PUR (Polyurethane): Excellent oil and abrasion resistance, halogen-free.
- PVC (Polyvinyl chloride): Cost-effective, a good general-purpose cable, good moisture resistance.
- TPE: Most commonly used in the food industry; Ecolab-tested material; resistant to all commonly used cleaning agents in the food industry.
Typical applications
- Industrial automation: Production lines, packaging machines.
- Pressure and flow sensors: Process industry.
- Machine building: Cranes, elevators, and conveyor systems.
