In static applications, the O-ring is an almost wear-free seal. The O-ring wears very little when smooth surfaces and sufficient lubrication are used. To minimize wear, it is advantageous to keep the clearance as small as possible, which is why O-rings are recommended only for applications where the given clearances can be maintained. Temperature ranges may vary depending on the manufacturer.
