Rolle Tenho began working as a technical sales representative in the camera team at KLINGER Finland Oy in March 2024. His role is a fitting example of how diverse technical sales work can be. Tenho’s position combines sales, customer solution design, technical expertise and practical implementation. The job is not limited to product presentations or preparing offers – it covers the entire process from identifying customer needs to system deployment.
Tenho’s daily tasks include contacting customers, scouting new sites, designing system layouts, presenting products and preparing marketing materials. A technical sales representative’s work also involves responsibility for user training, pre-installations of equipment and technical configurations. The work involves field visits, customer negotiations and conducting technical assessments on-site.
Working as a technical sales representative requires a wide range of skills. It demands technical knowledge and the ability to understand complex systems, organizational skills, spatial awareness and broad software proficiency. According to Tenho, the most important personal qualities are an open mind, a desire for continuous learning and the ability to find constructive solutions in various situations.
Varied workdays in the field and at the office
Tenho’s calendar is filled with routines that rarely repeat. A morning might be spent contacting customers, the afternoon in meetings and the next day in the field doing pre-installations. Travel is a major part of the technical sales representative’s work – over a six-month period, he may cover up to 26 000 kilometers. During client meetings, system designs and space solutions are reviewed, often at the customer’s premises, but sometimes also at KLINGER Finland’s Masala office.
One particularly memorable project involved designing a camera system solution for a client in the transportation industry, a project for which Tenho was responsible from start to finish. The four-month project included the design of a customized system, product development, definition of the backend system and user testing. The project required technical understanding, creative problem solving, deep insight into the customer’s needs and smooth collaboration with various stakeholders.
The opportunity to grow and develop is one of the key motivators for Tenho. Creating fresh solutions and improving ways of working is particularly inspiring – both from the perspective of customers, colleagues and the organization as a whole. “Developing the company and myself – that’s what excites me,” Tenho sums up.
At KLINGER Finland, the development of skills and employee wellbeing is highly valued. The company culture encourages continuous learning and offers space for innovative ideas. Tenho takes the initiative to educate himself actively – new courses are ongoing almost without interruption. He keeps up with topics that interest him and acquires education and courses to support his expertise. Employee wellbeing is supported in concrete ways, such as weekly exercise opportunities, an in-house gym and tennis court and extensive wellness benefits through Edenred.
