When industrial processes run hot and pressures increase, conventional PTFE gaskets often reach their limits. They soften, lose their shape and require retightening, resulting in increased maintenance work and costly downtime.

KLINGER® top-chem 2000 solves this challenge. It is the strongest PTFE gasket on the market, maintaining its shape and sealing performance even under demanding temperatures and pressures.

A unique design: closer to a metallic gasket than a conventional PTFE gasket

KLINGER top-chem 2000 is engineered for demanding applications. Its composition includes 57% silicon carbide (SiC), which gives the material exceptional mechanical strength. The result is a true heavy-duty gasket that meets all requirements of the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED).

Thanks to its silicon carbide filler, the gasket offers the lowest creep relaxation on the market, helping it maintain its shape between flange faces. The filler also helps maintain gasket stress throughout its service life. Its outstanding mechanical strength prevents the gasket from collapsing even at temperatures above 80 °C, while maintaining stable performance up to 260 °C.

KLINGER top-chem 2000 is the only PTFE gasket that does not require retightening in standard applications.

Proven reliability backed by standards

According to the PSK 6404 standard, temperature resistance refers to the temperature at which a gasket material begins to lose mass when no additional loads are applied. In practice, this means that the mechanical properties of many PTFE gaskets deteriorate long before their advertised maximum temperature is reached.

KLINGER top-chem 2000 is an exception. EN 13555 calculations (gasketdata.org) demonstrate that it maintains its compression and sealing properties at significantly higher temperatures than any other PTFE gasket. In practice, KLINGER top-chem 2000 is the only PTFE-based gasket that retains its mechanical properties at temperatures exceeding 120 °C.

Safety and certifications you can rely on

KLINGER top-chem 2000 is the only Fire Safe certified PTFE gasket on the market, maintaining its sealing integrity even in fire scenarios. This makes it a reliable choice for applications where fire safety is a critical part of process safety.

In addition, it holds key industry approvals, including TA-Luft, blowout safety, oxygen, gas and food-contact approvals.

KLINGER top-chem 2000 is manufactured without PFAS emissions, making it a more responsible choice for demanding industrial applications.

Wide temperature range and outstanding chemical resistance

KLINGER top-chem 2000 performs reliably across a temperature range of -196 °C to +260 °C, making it suitable for both cryogenic and high-temperature applications. It withstands virtually all common media, including acids, alkalis, steam and gases, making it an excellent alternative to graphite-based gasket materials.

Typical applications include caustic soda, sulphuric acid, steam and gas lines where both chemical resistance and mechanical stability are essential. The only notable exceptions are molten alkali metals, fluorine compounds and styrene.

KLINGER top-chem 2000 also withstands continuous thermal cycling exceptionally well, making it a popular choice for steam systems and heat exchanger applications.

Practical and maintenance-friendly

As a PTFE-based gasket, KLINGER top-chem 2000 does not readily adhere to flange surfaces. This makes maintenance work faster and cleaner while simplifying gasket removal during shutdowns.

Its excellent creep resistance prevents deformation under load, and the gasket remains in good condition even after long-term storage.

Thin ribs on fibre-based gaskets are often damaged during storage and handling, whereas KLINGER top-chem 2000 retains its integrity and dimensional stability.

The ideal general-purpose gasket for industry

KLINGER top-chem 2000 was developed to simplify gasket material selection in demanding process industry applications. It is a versatile general-purpose gasket capable of solving the majority of industrial sealing challenges.

Its outstanding chemical resistance, exceptionally wide operating temperature range and comprehensive certification portfolio have made it the preferred standard gasket in many facilities, replacing multiple gasket materials with a single solution.

This reduces inventory requirements, lowers the risk of installation errors and improves maintenance reliability. In many cases, a single material can replace several gasket types, simplifying both procurement and inventory management.

In addition, both standard and custom-cut gaskets are available with short delivery times, typically within 1–3 working days.

Less maintenance, greater reliability

One of the main challenges with conventional PTFE gaskets is their behaviour under load and elevated temperatures. They soften, deform and often require retightening. KLINGER top-chem 2000 maintains its shape and sealing performance even in demanding operating conditions without the need for retightening.

The result is a safe, long-lasting and low-maintenance sealing solution that reduces maintenance workload, minimises the risk of unplanned downtime and improves overall process reliability.

KLINGER top-chem 2000 is particularly popular in applications where frequent gasket replacement would otherwise cause production disruptions, increased maintenance costs or unexpected shutdowns.

KLINGER® top-chem 2000 is the right choice when you need a PTFE gasket for high temperatures and demanding process conditions.
