KLINGER Finland has once again been awarded the EcoVadis Bronze Medal. The latest assessment in October 2025 confirms that sustainability is part of our everyday work — not just a set of targets. EcoVadis is an internationally respected assessment system that evaluates companies’ sustainability practices in four areas: environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.
With the Bronze Medal, KLINGER Finland ranks among the top 35% of companies assessed by EcoVadis worldwide. This recognition reflects the level of our sustainability management and our commitment to transparency throughout the entire value chain.
“EcoVadis is one of the best-known and most respected corporate responsibility assessment systems. The result shows that we are on the right track — but also that we want to continue developing toward an even more sustainable future and increase transparency across our entire value chain,” says Quality Manager Niina Berner.
What does EcoVadis assess?
EcoVadis provides a holistic evaluation of corporate sustainability. KLINGER Finland’s strengths are especially evident in the following areas:
Environmental responsibility
- an ISO 14001-certified environmental management system in place
- energy efficiency, waste management and recycling integrated into daily operations
- employee training on environmental and waste-related topics
Labor & human rights
- an ISO 45001 system focusing on occupational safety and health
- strong emphasis on wellbeing, equality and workplace safety
- support for competence development and career paths
Ethics
- ethical guidelines and anti-corruption principles to prevent misconduct
- information security practices and employee training
Sustainable procurement
- supplier assessments and ethical guidelines for suppliers
- supply chain risk management
Recent practical actions
The latest EcoVadis assessment considers both management systems and practical actions. In recent years, KLINGER Finland has invested especially in the following areas:
Occupational safety as a priority
- We actively encourage reporting of near-miss situations and organize regular safety walks. Based on observations, concrete improvements are made to working methods and the work environment.
- Chemical safety has been strengthened through guidelines, training and practical improvements — with the goal of ensuring a safe working environment for everyone.
Ethics and corporate responsibility
- We have prepared and published an anti-corruption and anti-bribery guide that supports everyday decision-making across the organization.
- The KLINGER Group has also published an updated Code of Conduct, which all employees have reviewed. It guides operations throughout the organization and sets clear rules for areas such as ethical business practices, human rights and environmental responsibility.
Certifications and quality management
- Our subsidiary ECONOSTO Oy has been awarded the ISO 9001:2015 quality certification, strengthening quality leadership across the entire KLINGER Finland Group.
- Other certification work is also progressing well, supporting our promise of consistent, compliant quality for customers.
Waste management and recycling
KLINGER Finland has long managed and utilized waste comprehensively. In recent years, we have:
- added more sorting points at our sites and improved waste separation
- strengthened cooperation with partners to maximize waste utilization, for example as material or energy
- trained personnel on waste reduction and proper sorting.
This ensures that our previously strong level continues to improve and that the circular economy perspective is further reinforced.
Low-carbon mobility and energy solutions
KLINGER Finland aims to minimize CO₂ emissions from its own operations by the end of 2026. Many measures are already in place: our facility energy is CO₂-free, the vehicle fleet is rapidly being electrified, and logistics chains are continuously optimized.
This includes, for example:
- electrification of the vehicle fleet,
- ample charging points available for employees and visitors,
- energy solutions that emphasize low emissions and efficiency.

Greener procurement
- In procurement, we strive to favor greener choices, such as more energy-efficient solutions, environmentally friendly products and responsible partners.
- The goal is that sustainability is visible throughout the entire value chain — not only in our own processes.
“EcoVadis highlights what we have been doing in everyday work for a long time: safety is improved systematically, waste is managed responsibly, and ethical practices guide decision-making. Renewing the Bronze level shows that we are on the right path, but above all it is an incentive for us to continue developing even more purposefully,” Berner summarizes.
Our focus on continuous improvement
The EcoVadis assessment serves as a mirror for us: it reinforces where we are already strong and shows where to focus next. Key priorities for the coming years include:
- Developing reporting and indicators, especially regarding environmental impacts and emissions.
- Clearer definition and monitoring of policies and targets.
- Strengthening supply chain responsibility through contractual terms, supplier audits and buyer training.
- Continuous development and documentation of ethics and information security.
Summary: Bronze as a milestone
Renewing the EcoVadis Bronze Medal and ranking among the top 35% of companies assessed by EcoVadis are important recognitions for us. They show that:
- Sustainability is visible in concrete actions across environment, people, ethics and procurement.
- Certified systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001) support long-term development.
- We have been able to continue and strengthen our work even as requirements and customer expectations grow.
We do not see this medal as an endpoint, but as a milestone on our ongoing sustainability journey. We will continue this work purposefully together with our customers, partners and employees – aiming for an even more sustainable and safer future.
