KLINGER Finland manufactures Finnish labeling machines and is the only company producing them in Finland. In January, the company launched its new Ventus X-series product family, with the first model, X6, replacing the previous Ventus 520 and 620 models.
KLINGER is an Austrian family-owned company and one of the world’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of sealing solutions, valves and measurement instruments. The Group operates 18 production sites worldwide and is active in more than 60 countries with approximately 3,000 employees. The Group’s revenue is nearly EUR 700 million. All KLINGER companies operate independently in their respective countries; while strategic guidelines come from the owner, product lines are decided locally.
In Finland, KLINGER Finland serves its customers with a broad product portfolio and expertise that, in addition to the Group’s core product categories, also covers product marking, industrial surveillance and machine automation solutions. KLINGER Finland employs approximately 150 people, and its offices, production facilities and warehouse are located in Masala, Kirkkonummi. Subsidiary ECONOSTO Oy operates in Kuopio, and KLINGER Baltic in Tallinn.
Anniversaries and Long Careers
Employee tenures at the company are long. Technical Manager Riku Ajanti, who has been involved in the production of the new Ventus X-series labeling machines, has been with the company for 30 years. His career began with summer work in the company’s service department in 1995, after which he progressed through various assignments to his current role as Technical Manager. Sales Director Jari-Pekka Eskelinen joined KLINGER Finland in 2008. He first worked for nine years in technical services before moving into sales. He assumed the role of Sales Director at the beginning of 2025.
Ventus labeling machines have been manufactured since 1994. Originally, the company providing product marking solutions operated as a separate entity before merging with the rest of the organization. In 2025, product marking operations celebrated their 60th anniversary, while KLINGER Finland marked 85 years.
– Ventus is, to our knowledge, the only fully Finnish label applicator, and we are proud of that, says Eskelinen.
– The Ventus software and machined components are also produced here in Finland, Ajanti adds.
Durable Technology
Labeling machines have a long lifecycle and are designed to withstand decades of industrial use. The latest upgrade is the first major renewal in over ten years, although printing units have been updated several times. Modernization was mainly required for the machine’s user interface, as there is now greater demand for multiple language options. The user interface can also be customized for specific customer needs. Ventus X6 is additionally available with an RFID option, meaning the machine can include an automatic removal unit for defective RFID tags. The unit detects and removes faulty tags before application.
Eighty percent of KLINGER Finland’s labeling machines are exported across Europe, with units operating as far away as China. In total, approximately 4,500 Ventus label applicators have been delivered for industrial use. They are primarily sold through Finnish integrators and turnkey suppliers, but the company also has its own distributors in Poland, the Czech Republic, Turkey, Sweden, Norway and the United Kingdom. At the end of January, KLINGER Finland organized a launch event for all international distributors.
The Ventus X-series and other marking solutions will be presented at the PacTec trade fair at the Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre, stand 3c29. At the end of March, the company will also attend the LogiMAT trade fair in Stuttgart to seek additional distributors.
Tailored Solutions
According to Ajanti and Eskelinen, KLINGER Finland’s competitive advantage lies in its ability to tailor products precisely to customer requirements.
– We control everything in-house, including the Ventus software, says Ajanti.
– Customers often need modifications to ensure the machines meet their specific requirements, and customized solutions are one of our key strengths, Eskelinen adds.
KLINGER Finland provides a comprehensive labeling solution covering both machines and consumables. Labels are manufactured in Finland in Keuruu in cooperation with a contract manufacturer.
– Business is currently cautious, as in many other industries. Export trade is already showing signs of recovery, and the domestic market will likely follow, says Ajanti.
– Overall, things are in good shape. Today, everything is labeled. New marking methods require machine and camera upgrades from manufacturers, and the 2D code pilot initiated by Fazer has sparked discussion, Eskelinen kertoo.
2D Codes Add Value
KLINGER Finland has long operated in the food industry and collaborates with nearly all major players in the sector. Most customers are prepared to update their equipment.
– The biggest task is building interfaces between production control systems and printers. Many manufacturers’ printers are already capable of producing 2D codes. The greater investment need concerns camera systems that verify code readability. Cameras are also beneficial for quality assurance, Eskelinen says.
Due to increasing regulatory requirements, more information is now required behind the code, according to Ajanti.
– It is a constant challenge that packaging space is limited. For example, the product description can now be printed on the package in Finnish, with additional languages placed behind the code. Campaigns and promotions can also be added. The size of the code does not change, but it offers significant potential to create added value, Eskelinen concludes.
