KLINGER Finland acknowledges the environmental impacts of its operations and strives to align its activities with the principles of sustainable development while preventing adverse environmental effects. The Environmental Management System of KLINGER Finland is certified according to the ISO14001:2015 standard.
We continuously improve our environmental management system by taking into account the purpose of our operations, our operating environment and the needs of our customers. KLINGER Finland supplies products and services primarily to Finnish industry and wholesale partners.
We encourage our personnel to perform their work in a way that ensures everyone takes responsibility for the environment, commits to environmentally responsible practices, and enhances the organization’s environmental responsibility. Environmentally responsible actions are supported and encouraged i.e. through communication and training.
Our Environmental Objectives
- minimise CO₂ emissions from our own operations by the end of 2026
- continuously improve energy efficiency and reduce energy consumption
- improve recycling and reduce the amount of waste ending up in landfills
- consider environmental aspects in all significant procurement and investments
- promote the use of public transport for commuting and business travel
- strengthen environmental responsibility within the supply chain by selecting partners committed to sustainability goals
- increase environmental awareness among personnel and partners
- expand our product range with solutions that support sustainable development
As part of our environmental policy, KLINGER Finland has participated in the Motiva Energy Efficiency Agreement 2017–2025. We committed to a minimum 7.5% reduction in energy consumption compared to 2017 levels — a target that was achieved and exceeded halfway through the agreement period following the reorganization of our warehouse facilities. In total, our energy consumption has decreased by more than 15%.
Monitoring Environmental Impacts
KLINGER Finland actively monitors the environmental impacts of its operations and continuously strives to reduce them. We are committed to the principles of sustainable development, which is particularly evident in our operational practices and energy efficiency initiatives.
We monitor our energy consumption and carbon footprint at SCOPE 1-2 levels on a quarterly basis. The carbon footprint also takes into account the emissions from goods transportation and business travel. In the near future, the goal is to monitor and collect data at the SCOPE 3 level.
Total energy consumption includes vehicle fuels, purchased heating, cooling, and electricity for the property. With these actions, KLINGER Finland aims to contribute to the preservation of biodiversity and the mitigation of climate change.
KLINGER Finland complies with current environmental legislation and requires the same from its partners.
Key Environmental Actions
Energy Efficiency and Energy Choices in Facilities
KLINGER Finland has implemented several measures to reduce energy consumption and lower emissions:
- older fluorescent lighting has been replaced with energy-efficient LED fixtures, and lighting is controlled with motion sensors
- the district heating heat exchanger has been renewed, and the building’s ventilation and heating automation systems have been updated
- insulation of the facilities has been improved, and windows have been replaced with tighter, energy-saving models
- electric heaters and blowers have been replaced with air-source heat pumps
- waste heat from the compressor room is recovered and utilized for heating
- electricity is sourced 100% from renewable energy
- low-emission heating solutions are preferred in district heating
- indoor temperatures have been optimized through the national “One Degree Down” campaign, where temperatures were lowered to approximately 21°C
Waste Management and Circular Economy
- the majority of waste is reused as raw material or recovered as energy
- hazardous waste is sorted and handled separately
- waste sorting has been improved with additional sorting points
- employees have been trained in waste reduction and proper sorting practices
- cooperation with waste management partners has been enhanced to increase material recovery
Electric Mobility and Reducing Transport Emissions
- the company’s vehicle fleet has been electrified
- several charging stations are available for employees and visitors
- employees are offered bicycles as a company benefit to support low-emission commuting
- logistics chains are continuously optimized to reduce transport emissions
More Responsible Procurement
- environmental aspects are considered whenever possible in procurement
- we favour more sustainable products and materials
- energy-efficient equipment and solutions are prioritised
- we require our suppliers to follow responsible practices and environmental requirements
