Metropolia Motorsport is a Formula student team operating as a research, development, and innovation project at Metropolia University of Applied Sciences
Since the early 2000s, the team has been producing combustion-engine cars for the international student series, and since 2013, it has focused solely on the development and production of electric cars to keep up with the technological shift away from combustion engines. The idea of the competition is to design and build a new improved vehicle each year to compete internationally with other universities in various dynamic and static events, ranging from acceleration tests to a approx. 22-kilometer “endurance” section, as well as from the cost of manufacturing the car and the structure of the carbon footprint to the presentations made on the design decisions of individual components. The competitions are judged by industry professionals and representatives from leading universities.
KLINGER Finland proudly sponsors the Formula Student team. The electric car has several critical areas that require gaskets, and the failure of even a seemingly minor gasket could result in the car not finishing the race. It’s not just a speed competition—points are also awarded for the quality of the car’s design.
For us, supporting the Formula Student team is important because it is:
- an environmentally friendly initiative
- a student-driven project that supports and helps develop future talents
- high-tech innovation focused on improving reliability.
